Paper crumbled in the basket
Words torn apart
Ideas unwritten 
Evidence of effort veiled
Volumes fill the shelves
Knowledge nobly built from 
Accident from mistake from 
Failure from trying
An iron will salvaged 
Disappointment into 
Pages of a story forever 
Told without hint of the end
So we threw effort to the ground
Preferred blank pages to red ink
Unsure we could again choose 
To exonerate failure as development
To present our ambitions
In their agonized finality 
To a world of viewers 
Pointing to mistakes 
We never even detected 
Not again. 
But again! 
Pull the paper from the basket
Smooth out the wrinkled lines 
Our effort is our roar 
And in its echo we will find 
Our lines
